Refections of Tim Rodaart
1. I have a new respect for his work, before I thought it was bizarre but had meaning.
2. I was too quick to judge the work of this artist. He didn't just make odd things to get people's attention.
3. He also became human versus when I was looking at this stuff he was just a strange artist.

Notes on Groups

Group 2
Their proportion, texture and movement pictures were all very good. They also had a very interesting choice for emphasis.
Group 3
We used a similar picture for variety. Their rhythm picture is hard to relate to.
Group 4
Their space and texture pictures are interesting and unique. Their variety picture could also pass for proportion.
Group 5
We used a similar picture for variety. Their emphasis picture was very nice. Their balance picture of the chapel seemed to be a reoccurring idea in many of the groups.
Group 6
The use of the flags for color was a very different and interesting picture for color. Their emphasis and variety are both nice pictures.
Group 7
The unity picture was the same as our variety picture, using it as unity is an interesting take on it. Their texture picture was nice.
Group 8
Their photos started off dull yet gradually became very colorful and unique. Their harmony, variety and unity pictures are all very interesting.

Color
navy
My favorite color is navy. The color speaks to me because it is often associated with the service and boats. Although I may not be in the service I sent a semester on a ship. So in a clique way I connect with ocean and the vastness it brings.

5 and 5 (Jason Hackett)
Observations
1. mixed media
2. use of photos and ceramics is an interesting blend
3. the use of paints really emphasizes
4. pieces used are household objects
5. the pictures make something that could be borrowing more interesting

5 questions
1. is there a connection to the photographs, are they family photos?
2. or the pieces that are pre made like the little birds or plates found in various places
3. the colors or so vibrant, what kind do you use? glazes often are not that vibrant
4. how did you get started in all of this? was there a transition between what you started with and this?
5. how long does it take to make one piece, do you know what you are doing before or does it just happen organically?

Reflection:
Jason was less personable, but overall it was very interesting. The dogma piece was my favorite the fact that he mixed those pieces together. I still wonder how he put the pieces together though.

grocery store photo

The picture is of a super store that has only cleaning products. It features six aisles of all brightly colored cleaning products. Rows and rows of various size package line the aisles. Two people are featured in the third aisle. The products are extremely organized. They are featured in piles and neat rows. The people in the picture look somewhat homely. There are not structural parts of the buildings featured in the picture.
The emotions attached to the photograph leave the viewer empty and alone. The imagine doesn't feel personal, it feels sterile. The contrast of the sadness and bright colors in the photo offer a contradicting view. The photo mimics the lanes of a swimming pool. The flow of the height of the products depicts the waves and ripples of a pool. Meanwhile the aisles of the store represent racing lanes of the pool.
Before the photo was taken the aisles remain empty, only a few shoppers roam through the aisles. After the photograph was taken the couple featured on the right center of the image may debate what to buy.
This photograph shows the melting pot of America. There is also a sense of over organization within the aisle as well as within life. The concern with keeping everything perfectly clean in America is shown through the massive amounts of cleaning products.

5 and 5 Claire Sherwood

1. The videos, which do you prefer making?
2. how do you get the ideas for the videos they all seem very different?
3. where did you get the idea for icing?
4. how do you make the "icing"?
5. how long do they pieces last?

1. hard vs. soft
2. some of the pieces are danty
3. some are very hard
4. there is also a nice comparision
5. the chalk in the cement tube is very interesting, tube you found or got made?

Reflection:
I liked talking to her the most. I think her art was the most interesting and she was the most personable. The work she does is not like other artists but she also has a very interesting perspective. I loved her videos even more after she explained it to me. The fact that she responded to a friend with the videos. They went back and forth nd it made for very interesting videos.

Ranking of Perspective:
1. Wendy and Elizabeth
I think they did a great job simply depicting smoking a cigarette. It was a very interesting idea as well, that was bvery creative I would have never thought of it.
2. Jeslin and Berkley
They also did a great job. We liked the fact that they even payed attention to the line of the truck. It really emphasises the chaos that happens in the moment they captured. There small details in the whole piece that make it really powerful.
3. Michael, Dominic, Connor
We think the piece could have been strengthen by adding in some of the goalie gloves. There is also a possibility that they could add the goal post but you can clearly tell what the piece is about.
4. Alex and Erin
The piece was as good as it could be but the concept was lacking. It was a very relatable piece and was well done, they could have just thought of a stronger concept or made it more layered, in terms of the story line.
5. Micaela and Jen
They really should have combined the 3 pieces. There was a strong one but the other two were lacking. Either use one or combine all three. The last one isnt really cleear what perspective it is from.
6. Peter and Andrea
The concept was great, they really thought about it. Their element were really good but they could have added the emotion of the worker. I am not sure how you would make it better because of rules but I understand what they were doing.
7. Frank and Tara
All their pictures were great but there as one that was confusing. A picture taken over the shoulder was more like of a person watching them eat instead of them eating. The white boarder was also distracting.
8. Liz and Kofi
This could have been working wiith more. If it was a look through the ear it would have been really cool.
9. Ben and Spencer
There are lots of conponents that are missing from the picture. There is a that needs to be worked on.
